The United Nations Academic Impact Korea (UNAI Korea) presents the Kim Young-Gil Holistic Global Citizenship Award biennially in honor of the educational philosophy of the late Dr. Kim Young-Gil, the founding president of Handong Global University.
Dr. Kim Young-Gil was an educator and practitioner who nurtured holistic leaders based on the values of honesty, integrity, responsibility, and respect. He emphasized community-based action to transform the world through education.
The 1st Kim Young-Gil Holistic Global Citizenship Award
The award seeks to carry on his philosophy by identifying and honoring individuals and institutions that have demonstrated creative and sustainable practices in various fields, including international development, educational development, global citizenship education, and social welfare, based on global citizenship, holistic education, and global leadership.
The award categories are as follows:
- Holistic Global Citizenship Paper Award(2 recipients): Recognizes outstanding scholarly work related to holistic global citizenship and other relevant themes submitted through public calls - Holistic Global Citizenship Educator Award(3 recipients): Recognizes exemplary educators who put holistic global citizenship education into practice in the classroom
- Holistic Medical Mission Award (1 individual or 1 team): Recognizes those who have demonstrated the values of holistic global citizenship in the fields of medicine and public health
